MDI offers both formal neuropsychological testing as well as general dyslexia evaluations across the state of Michigan. | ![]() |
- Language Skills Evaluations (LSEs) are offered at all MDI centers. Although this evaluation does not result in an official diagnosis of dyslexia, it will determine whether there are indications of dyslexia and whether specialized remedial reading instruction is appropriate. Results also help guide the instructional process.
- Neuropsychological Evaluations (Neuropsych) for dyslexia, ADHD, and other learning disorders are conducted by a licensed medical professional. This type of evaluation can result in an official DSM-5 (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) diagnosis, which is necessary when you are trying to qualify for services at school or at work.
LSE Tests
- Language Skills Evaluation, Report Included – $650
This comprehensive evaluation that assesses reading, writing, and comprehension using standardized, normed assessments. It is intended for struggling readers who have not yet been tested for dyslexia to determine if there are indications of dyslexia and whether specialized remedial reading, writing, or math instruction is appropriate. - Modified Language Skills Evaluation – $250 – $450
This condensed version of the Language Skills Evaluation intended for individuals who have already been identified as having dyslexia. The evaluation determines the student’s current level of skill in reading, writing, and comprehension. It helps identify the current needs of the student and provides insight into developing a specialized remedial reading instruction plan for the student and as a baseline for measuring progress. - Pathways and Achieve! Screening – ages 5-8 (Kindergarten-2nd Gr.) – $150
This specialized language skills evaluation assesses phonemic awareness skills and other critical pre-reading skills for young children, K-2, using standardized assessments. The examiner will analyze the assessment to determine whether characteristics of dyslexia are demonstrated. The results are discussed with the client and also in a written report and can also be used to group students, plan for instruction, or serve as a baseline for progress.
Neuropsych Tests
- Neuropsychological Evaluation
A neuropsychological evaluation conducted by a psychologist or speech/language therapist is required for an official diagnosis of dyslexia. This type of evaluation can result in an official diagnosis. An official DSM-5 (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) diagnosis is necessary when you are trying to qualify for services at school or at work. It is critical to choose an evaluator who is knowledgeable about dyslexia and effective therapies. MDI can help guide you in identifying a qualified professional to ensure you get results that meet your specific needs.
