The Academy, approved by the Board of Regents of the State University of New York and operating under New York State Education Law, is the sole organization in the country established expressly to certify persons and accredit programs in the Orton-Gillingham Approach.
The Academy certifies individuals at four levels (Classroom Educator, Associate, Certified, and Fellow). Fellows possess the highest level of professional competency and experience recognized by the Academy.
The Michigan Dyslexia Institute is unique in that it is the only training provider in the state facilitated by a fellow of the Academy. All trainings follow the high curricular and practice standards set by the Academy. MDI encourages all persons taking training to consider working toward Academy status to add to their level of skill and knowledge. For more information, visit www.ortonacademy.org.
